a regional initiative to enrich the musical life of the church and the wider community taken forward by the Sam Baker School of Church Music,
an educational charity named after one of the best-loved 20th-century musicians in Shrewsbury who served as organist of St Mary’s and of St Chad’s Church
will train and educate musicians to lead and accompany music in the church and in the community in the Marches, the West Midlands and Mid Wales,
especially in the counties of Shropshire, Herefordshire and Powys
To uphold the principles and values of the Christian church, while being open to engagement with people of every background, race and creed
To aspire to full our vision and achieve our objectives with realism as well as the highest standards
To work effectively and efciently
maximising good practice
and minimising complication and bureaucracy
To achieve better provision for music in worship and other church and community occasions, especially in those places which are small or have modest resources
To build up a larger body of competent but mostly amateur music leaders, keyboard players and singers to serve the needs of both church and community
To contribute to the reinvigoration of the musical, spiritual and cultural life of the region
A ourishing programme of education and training through individual tuition, courses and workshops, and musical events
A body of inspiring, well-qualied and experienced tutors to provide high quality tuition at every level of ability
Collaboration and partnership to maximise the impact of the Aspirans initiative regionally and in relation to national initiatives and developments
