"I was attracted to Donald Wilkinson's paintings… because he has an eye like a hawk which enables him to to work with accuracy and speed, catching the flying details of wind and weather…"

Professor Richard Demarco

Donald Wilkinson is a landscape artist working from his studio based in his native Cumbria. He also produces work on location throughout Scotland.

Works by Donald Wilkinson are in many private and public collections in the United Kingdom and abroad. Recent exhibitions include one-person shows at the Wordsworth trust and a South Australian Arts Council touring show 2005-7.

In 2007 he made a series of drawings, watercolours and monoprints about the Solway Firth and its changing light and weather conditions as the seasons changed from winter to spring. This work was shown at the Rockcliffe Gallery in July 2007.

This two-disk DVD set was made to celebrate the exhibition and to show the artist working in the Solway landscape and in the studio.

Also included is a wide-ranging conversation with Professor Richard Demarco discussing the artist's work and Richard's formal introduction at the opening of the exhibition at the Rockcliffe Gallery on 2 June 2007.
