Your privacy

Your privacy – and therefore your confidence in us – is important to The Art of Music.

We will only disclose your information to other members of
The Art of Music group (see Data Protection section).

We will not sell, lend, rent or otherwise make available your details to any other person or organisation (except in compliance with any legal requirement that may be made of us).

Cookies

We may store information about you using cookies (files which are sent by us to your computer or other access device) which we can access when you visit our site in future. We do this to:

  1. use Google Analytics to see how you found our site and how long you stay on the site.
    Why? To help us to help your experience on our website – and to help other people to find us!

  2. to enable the use of a shopping basket for your purchases.
    Why? We need to be able to track your movement from one page to another through our site so you can add items to your shopping basket and complete your order so that we can send you your purchases.

Email marketing
  • We do want to let you know about our publications and services, but we will only do so if you have asked us.
  • We do not send random marketing emails to personal email addresses (spam).
  • We don't like receiving spam as they waste our time and our bandwidth; we're sure that you don't want them either!

Online payments

Online credit card payments are dealt with for us securely by PayPal.

Consequently, we do not hold any financial details about you; neither do we store any other details on our servers than necessary to fulfil your orders, keep you in touch with our products and services, and to offer you the best service possible.

Cooling-off period

We allow a 14-day 'cooling off' period for returns (except for bespoke services).

Music sales

Please note that if you purchase music from us, and wish to return it within the 14-day 'cooling off' period, then your licence for the music will be invalidated; you must destroy any copies you have made under such a licence.

We are a small company that relies on sales to continue publishing. Illegal photocopying prevents us from doing so.

Data protection

We are happy to conform with the requirements of the Data Protection Act, 1998 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003.

Accordingly, in order to assist with the protection of your personal information, we are registered with the UK's Information Commissioner's Office.

The identity of the person or organisation responsible for operating the web site (data controller) is Alistair Warwick.

The purposes for which we intend to process the personal data are: to create and maintain a database of exisiting or potential customers and clients (we do not send unsolicited email).

We do not disclose information about you to third parties, excepting for members of The Art of Music group
(The Art of Music, The Typehouse, and Alistair Warwick),
and to fulfil any proper legal requirements made of us.
